IMTARC completes Introduction to Shipbuilding and Repair Course
The Industrial Marine Training and Applied Research Centre (IMTARC) and Camosun College recently partnered on the delivery of a six week "Introduction to Shipbuilding and Repair" course. The course has led to subsequent employment for most of the graduates. IMTARC worked with the Esquimalt Drydock Company in providing on-site work experience during the delivery of this program. Students completed one week of work experience at the shipyard during the course. This was an excellent opportunity for students to reinforce what they were learning in the classroom and gave them the opportunity to try out different trades skills in the shipyard. Overall the course was very well received by the students and industry alike, and we look forward to continuing to support the transition of learning and education into employment in the industry.
